Invercargill, 26th December. A south-easter brought up rain, Which did not cease till midday. The afternoon, was fair, but the sky leaden and the wind cold. * Cheistchuech, 26th December. The weather was in eveiy way splendid for the holiday to-day, the heat of the sun being tempered by a fresh breeze. The chief attractions were the regatta at Little River, whither 500 persons went by tram ; the Tioneer Bicycle Club's races at Lancaster Park, and the Canterbury Trotting Club'& Summer Meeting at Addington. This Dat. The weather is fine to-day, but a strong south-west wind is blowing, which makes matters unpleasant for the holiday. The only fixture is the Combination Cycling Carnival in Lancaster Park. All shops and warehouses are closed. , More than 18,000 people travelled on the Canterbury Tramway Company's lines yesterday, and there was not a single mishap to chronicle. Dunedin, 26th December-." The weather was fine yesterday, but showers fell this morning. * The military sports at the Caledonian Grounds were well attended, and a fair number were present at the lawn tennis championship meeting. Sydney, 25th December. Christmas Eve was Avet and stormy, but the weather to-day is fine and pleasant. The city is crowded with visitors. The weather in Victoria and Queensland was fine for the holidays. Wanganui, This Day. The town is crowded with visitors from north and south. The rain yesterday affected the cycling sports held in Cook's Gardens, but a large proportion of the events were gone through. The following are some of the results : — Mile Maiden — Draffin, 1 ; Whitnall, 2 ; Harrison, 3. Quarter-mile — Thacker, 1 ; Dexter, 2 ; P. Thomson, 3. Two Mile Club Handicap — Stobie, 1; Kirkwood, 2; Webb, 5. Two Miles First-class Scratch Race — Reynolds, 1; Dexter, 2; Chalmers, 3. [our own correspondent.] Carterton, This Day. The Carterton Cycling Club held their sports on the Show Grounds track yesterday, but owing to the inclement weather only a few of the events came off, and the sports were put off until next day. There were nearly 1000 people present. In the first heat of the second race, J. M'Donald, a Wellington rider, came down, and received a compound fracture of the collarbone.
