[PEESS ASSOCIATION.] Shanghai, 26th December. The Viceroy of Szechuan reports that it will be impossible to obtaiu the peaceable release of the French missionary who was lately seized by rebels, and whose release is demanded by France under threat of invasion. The Tsung-li Yamen hesitates to direct the use of force without France consents. The American Minister at Pekin has protested to the Chinese Government that the proposed exteusion of the French concession near Shanghai would be a trespass against the riparian rights of propertyowners.
