LOWERING OF THE BANK OF ENGLAND DISCOUNT RATE. [PBESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received May 27, 9.20 a.m.) London, 26th May. The Bauk of England rate of discount is quoted at 3£ per cent. From May to September of last year the Bank's discount rate stood at 2 per cent. On the 23rd September it was raised to 2£ per cent., and on the 14th October to 3 per cent., at which it stood till the beginning of April, when it advanced to 4 per cent., from which rate it has now been reduced.
