EFFECT OF THE EXCITEMENT ABOUT CUBA.
O AN ENORMOUS DROP ON THE NEW YORK EXCHANGE. [press association.] London, 14th March. The Standard says that since the Cuban excitement began bonds and shares on Wallstreet (the New York Stock Exchange) have declined 250,000,000 dollars (£50,000,000). (Received March 15, 10 a.m.) London, 14th March. The Standard's New York correspondent says that despite the official assurances of a pacific nature, the value of stocks has fallen in some cases to the extent of some seven per cent. The Times states that the enquiry into the explosion on the cruiser Maine has concluded. The report will be presented to the United States Government in the course of a fortnight.
