N.Z. WORKERS' UNION.

The second annual meeting of the New Zealand Workers' Union was held at the Trades Hall last night, Mr. R. Patton (President) in the chair. Seven new members were elected. The report and balancesheet, presented by Mr. W, Jones (Secretary), showed that there are 104 members, only 60 of whom are financial. Fourteen of these are women. The receipts were £23 8s 4d, and the expenditure £17 Os 2d. The branch formed at Whangamoma has a mombership of 50. The headquarters of the Union for the North Island are now in Wellington, Timaru being the headquarters for the South Island. Owing to the apathy of members, the Wellington Branch has not sent out an organiser this year amongst the shearers and bush workers. Mr. Monro, one of the trustees, in moving the adoption of the report, spoke very strongly of tbe apathy of members in regard to their subscriptions. An amendment moved by Mrs. Tasker, "That the adoption of the report and balance-sheet be held over for a future meeting, owing to its debatable matter," was carried. Officers were elected as follows :— President, Mr. A. Orr (who defeated Mr. M'Laren by one vote) ; Vice-Presidents, Miss Williams (re-elected) and Mr. D. M'Laren ; Secretary, Mr. W. Jones (re-elected by a large majority). Owing to the lateness of the hour, the election of the remaining officers was held over.
