Mr. Chamberlain. Secretary of State for the Colonies, has stated that it is th* intention of the Westralian Government to create a special department to protect the natives of the colony and distribute relief amongst them. A fire broke out in the Eiffel tower at Blackpool, Lancashire. The structure was soon in a mass of flames. A portion of the tower fell on the pleasure buildings below, completely wrecking them. The Australian baseball team has arrived from New York. Its American tour -was a failure.
