MISCELLANEOUS CABLEGRAMS
[PBESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received July 24, 9.43 a.m.) London. 28rd July. The new Anglo-Australian mail contracts involve the sailing of the mail steamers from Albany on Sundays on the homeward voyage. Mr. Chamberlain. Secretary of State for the Colonies, has stated that it is th* intention of the Westralian Government to create a special department to protect the natives of the colony and distribute relief amongst them. A fire broke out in the Eiffel tower at Blackpool, Lancashire. The structure was soon in a mass of flames. A portion of the tower fell on the pleasure buildings below, completely wrecking them. The Australian baseball team has arrived from New York. Its American tour -was a failure.
