THE AMBERLEY MURDER. SHEEHAN'S LETTER TO MRS LAWCOCK. [BY TELEGRAPH — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchurch, THIS DAY.
Sheehan, the Amberley murderer, who was executed yesterday, wrote a letter to Mrs. Lawcock, mother of his victim, in which he asked her forgiveness, and stated his willingness to pay the penalty for so grievous a crime. He concludes — '• Hoping you will not think it presumptuous of me in writing this to you, I must say I am writing this, as God is ray judge, only in a full and penitent spirit, and I hope you will forgive me and yours, as I hope God will forgive me ; and I hope to meet your daughter iv Heaven, where He may forgive me. Good-oye, and God bless you, dear madam. Hoping for your forgiveness, I remain, that unfortunate man, may God forgive me."
