RECORD SHOOTING IN THE QUEEN'S PRIZE MATCH. FIVE NEW ZEALANDERS SURVIVE THE FIRST STAGE. [press association.] London, 20th July. The highest scores of the Queensianders in the earlier stages of the Queen's Prize match were :— At 200yds— -Major Hamilton and -Lieutenant Sankey, 33 each ; Privates Heenan and Mitchell, 32 ; Private Ferguson, 31. At 500yds— Privates Heenan and Ferguson and Corporal Bradley, 34 ; Private Mitchell and Sergeant Grant, 33; Private Middleton, 32 ; Private Hamilton, 31. (Received July 22, 9.45 a.m.) London. 21st July. The shooting of the first stage of the match for the Queen's Prize, comprising the 200, 500, and 600 yds ranges, has been completed. Sergeants Hill and Scott tied for the bronze medal, with the record scores of 102. There were also two scores of 101, and 12 of 100. Of the 2000 competitors, 291 who scored 94 and over are included in the 300 entitled to compete in the next stage, i.e., the 800 and 900 yds ranges. The remaining nine places have to he shot for by 100 riflemen who scored 93. > The New Zealand aggregate scores were —Howe (Wellington), 96; Hawthorne (Wellington), 95 ; King (Oamaru), Richardson (Dunedin), and Harris (Little River), 94; Ballinger (Wellington), Williams (Weli liugton), and Simpson (Kaiapoi), 93 ; Sergt. Sommerville (Wanganui), 92 ; Webster (Auckland), 89 , Strachan (Wanganui), 87 ; Hazard (Auckland), 85 , Banks (Christchurch), 84, Major Sommerville (Wanganui), 71. I The following were the aggregates of the Victorian team in the first stage --Carter, 100; Todd,9B; Walker, 96; Hawker and Fargher, 91 ; Sloane, 90 , Grummitt, 89 Kelly, 87 ; Ross, 85 ; Downie, 84 ; Kirk, 83 : Reilly, 81. The Queensland men's aggregates were :— Bradley and Anderson, 96 each ; Heenan, Ferguson, and Mitchell, 95 each , Hamilton, 93, Graut, 91; Weyerford, 90; Sanke)', 88 • Green, 87 ; Moody, 86; Middleton, 85. In the match for the Daily Graphic 50 Guinea Cup, aud 126 prizes amounting to £340 (distance 200 yds), 45 competitors, including Lieut.-Col. Kelly, of Victoria, made possibles. Kelly and Mitchell, of Queensland, are among 16 who gained in three tie shots.
