The use of Newtown Park for next Saturday was granted to the Rovers and Queen's Park by the Management Committeo of the Wellington 'Football Association at its meeting last night. It was decided to make a start with the -test matches on Saturday week. Messrs. Alex. Henderson, Fordham, and Wooldridge were appointed a match committee to select the trial and representative teams. Iv refereuce to aspersions that have been cast upon Mr. "Wooidridge's capability as a referee iv cer- . tain quarters, it was resolved unanimously that the Committee has entire confidence in Mr. Woolridge's competency as referee. A general meeting of the Thistle Football Club will be held at tho Royal Hotel to-morrow night. The Managing Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union only learned a few days ago .that a match had been , arranged between the N t ew Zealand team and Armidale, to take place this day week. The Committee considers that it will be a mistake if our men are obliged to play a match three days before they are to meet New South Wales for the last time, and a cable message was sent last night to Mr. Hyams,- manager of the team — which is still in Queensland — telling him to abandon the Amiidale fixture it' he could honourably do so.
