[PRESS ASSOCIATION.] SYDNEY, 13th May.

Before the Full Court, in the Butler attachment cases against the newspapers, an affidavit was read showing that Butler was committed for trial for the murder of Preston and Weller on the night of 27th April, and the papers were officially informed of the committal late the samo night. Affidavits were read on behalf of each of the respondents, pleading guilty and expressing regret, but denying any intention to interfere with the course of justice. The Chief Justice, in delivering judgment, said he fully understood there was no intention to iuterfere with the course of justice, but the offence was committed, and the papers should havo withdrawn the articles when it \>us ascertained that Butler had been committed. The Court fined the Sydney Morning Herald, the Daily Telegraph, the Evening News, and the Star £100 each.
