HORRIBLE DEATH OF A MAORI WO MAN.
+ [BY TELBGBAPH. — PHESS ASSOCIATION.] Gisbobne, 7lli December. A partly demented Maori womftu, Akeniha Keating, wife of a European, has met with a horrible death at North Gisborne. She was helpless, and had to he fed and lifted about by her husband. On returning home from Gisborne on Saturday, he found the long grass in the orchard blazing, and his wife dead in the midst of the flames. It is supposed she had been smoking, and had thrown a lighted match into the grass. The poor woman was dreadfully burned about the upper part of her body, and all the hair was off her head. Eight or ten years ago her mother was burned to death within a few yards of the same spot. To the Electors of Wellington. — A great slaughter in bicycles, cyolos for the million. — S.
