THE GLENBROOK MYSTERY.

DISAPPEARANCE OF A THIRD MAN. A DETECTIVE'S THRILLING ADVENTURE WITH A SNAKE. [PBESS ASSOCIATION.] Sydney, 30th November. The mystery surrounding the disappearmce of two men from Glenbrook, h small township in the Blue Mountains, whither they had been enticed by a man who had advertised for a partner in a prospecting venture, is deepening. A third man, named Leslie, is now reported to be missing. The Government has offered a reward of £100 for a clue to the mystery. The police are scouring the mountains in the endeavour to find the remains of the missing men. During a search of a disused shaft, Detective M'Lean had a thrilling experience. Two men lowered him, and when he encountered a large snake at the bottom of the shaft, they were unable to haul him up. The detective passed a bad five minutes before an extra hold was secured and he was hauled s-afely to the top. Preston is the name of the second missing nan. He was a student of mineralogy at ■Sydney University. Portions of his clothing iiave been found at Linden, and the police theory is that Weller (the first man) was made away with at Glenbrook and Preston at Linden. The country round about is very wild. A man named Harwood or Butler is wanted " in connection with the affair. A similar advertisement to that which attracted Weller and Preston was inserted in the Newcastle papers, but replies were never called for.
