4 A PICTURESQUE DAY IN THE NORTHERN CITY. [rfY TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Auckland, 28th November. The Auckland Ladies' Benevolent Society held the annual floral fete or carnival of flowers to-day, at the Ellerslie Racecourse. There were abo\it 50 classes for competition, and in addition a children's procession, a musical bicycle ride, and a flight of 500 homing pigeons. It is stated that 15,000 people were on the ground. It was the largest outdoor gathering yet held in Auckland. The Sooiety gets the Government £1 for £1 on the net receipts.
