SHOT DOWN AT THE DOOR OF A MOSQUE. | PKERs ASSOCIATION. | Teheran, 2nd May. The Shah of Perßia, Nasr-ed-Din, has been murdered. A mollah (one of ths higher order of ecclesiastical judges) named Reza shot tbo Shah while he was entering the Azim Mosque, and His Majesty died two hours later from the wounds he received. Mnzaffer, his s°cond son, succeeds him, but it is expeoted that Mizza (?) will oontest tbe succession. Order prevails in the city. Rez<i, who belongs to the society called " Babi," and who liob made four previous attempts on the life of the Shah, has been arrested. London, 3rd May. Tbe Queen has sent a message of sympathy to Teheran at the death of the Shah and the loss the world suffers at his death. At the same time she congratulates Persia on having so worthy a successor to the throne as Mnzaffer. [Nasr-ed-Din, tbo " Shab-in-Sbab," or King of KiEgs— a common form of title among Eastern monarchs— was the fonrth Sovereign of the dynasty of Kajars, the first of whom seized the throne after a oivil war whioh extended over 15 years, from 1779 to 1794. He succeeded to the throne in 1848, and was 67 years of age last month. In 1856 there was war between Great Britain and Persia, in consequence of the latter ■having occupied Herat, in Afghanistan. Success attending the British arms under General Ontram, ample satisfaction was given to Britain by the fchah in the treaty of peace, and the beat of relations have ever since subsisted between the two countries, special commercial concessions having been made to Britain of late years. Tho Shah's most notable tour in Europe took place in 1873, when he went by way of the Caspian Sea to Uußsia, Germany, England, France, Italy, back to Germany, on to Austria, then back to Italy, on to Turkey, and home by way of the Caspian.
