WELLINGTON BACING CLUB'S SPRING MEETING. The threatening morning prevented many from attending the second day's raoing of the ol»b's meeting at the Hntt yesterday, and the attendanoe suffered in comparison with the first day's gathering. A shower of rain fell before the first race, and Blight showers fell at intervals, bnt a hailstorm came on when the candidates were at the post for the Haok Baoe. To make matters worse , Selma and On Dit were very f motions at the post, and the latter rushed under the barrier of Gray's starting maohine on twooooasions, dislodging the jockey (Connop) «ach time. Fortunately he was not hurt seriously, and was able to mount the gelding for the race. The start was thus delayed for a considerable time, the other candidates having to wait in blinding rain for the horse to be remounted, and naturally reoeived a drenohing. After On Dit's performance the ■tarter decided to start the race without the •id of the machine, and the singular patt cf the affair was that the hone which had caused bo much trouble got several lengths' start, and won easily. The Shrew's viotories in the Waiwetu and November Handicaps were the theme of conversation, and showed wbat a splendid mare Mr. F. Moeller possesses. The last race was rnn in a shower of rain, which unfortunately continued while those in attendanoe were leaving to oatah the train, and they reoeived • severe drenohing.
