LAING AND RONAYNE REPORTED. Tbe referee in the Auckland-Canterbury and Taranaki-Wellington matches has reported to the New Zealand Rugby Union that he had to order Ronayne in the former match and L&ing in the latter off the field — Laing for "foul play" in deliberately " throwing forward," and Ilonayne for " repeated oriticism of the referee's rulings, and impertinence when reprimanded for his conduct." Both players will have to be dealt with by the New Zealand Union. In reporting the men, Mr. Firth says : — " I shonld like to add that the oonduet of the Taronaki men on the field was exoellent, bnt tome of the Auckland men behaved almost throughout the matoh in anything but a seemly manner." ASSOCIATION. For the Third-class Cup, Petrlo defeated Golden Stars by two goals (scored by Inglis and Earle) to ml ; Cresoents were beaten by Red Cross by 3 goals to nil, the goals being obtained by C. Gamble, Otterson, and E. Gamble. The practice for the Third-class Reps., between A and B teams, resulted in a drawno soore. The following teama practise on the Railway Ground to-morrow (Tuesday) afternoon : — A Team — Grimstone, Earlo, Roberts, Otterson, Gamble (3), ifamsay, Longton, Dean, Ingles, Mulhane. B Team— C. Colpus, Casey, M'Cluggatte, S. Bethell, W. Taylor, Knowles, F. Cooper, Kilminster, Cloke, Cottle, M'Leod. Emergencies — R. Needham, Duffy, J. Roulaton, Rankin, Fitcgerald. The final aeleotion has not yet been made. Tbe Junior Cup match, Empire v. Addington, was won by the Empire by 4 points to love. Taylor kioked a goal from a mark obtained by Hart. A match between the Boys' Institute and Albion resnlted in a win for the tormer by five points to love. |BT TKLIQRAPH.- PRXBS ASSOCIATION. I Auckland. 31st August. In tho Association match, Auokland v. Ruahine (Napier), Auokland won by 3 goals to nil. Austin Smith scored two goaiu, and Hamilton put the ball through onoe. The visitors were outclassed. They laoked combination. The Auoklanders played muoh better than in the matoh against Wellington. PalMkrston North, 3 1st August Manawatu defeated Wanganui by 16 points to 8. * Napjer, This Dat.
