ROBBERIES IN THE CITY.

AT THB VICTOBIA HOTSL. Yesterday evening, between 6 and 7 o clook, a robbery was oommitted at the Victoria Hotel, Abel Smith-street, resulting in the loss of a cash-box containing about .£5 in noteß and sliver, two watohes and a chain, and a number of papers, the whole of the value of .£2O. Mr. P. Dwyer, the licensee, was at tea, when the thief entered his bedroom. The oash-box was in a ofaest of drawers, which was broken into. This morning the oash-box, empty, waa found in Cambridge-terrace. The police have the matter in hand. AT TH» GBO&VINOB HOTBJD. An impudent burglary was committed last night, between the hours of 12 and 4, at the Grosvenor Hotel Mr. Robert Barclay, tho Jioeneee, was awakened during the night by a noise, and on getting up discovered that the key with which he had locked Us door on the inside before retiring had been pushed out of the keyhole, and a skeleton key inserted from the outside. The thief evidently intended to enter tbe room, bnt desisted on bearing Mr. Barclay call ont. However, as the door was still looked, Mr. Barolay was unable to pursue the thief, who esoaped. Assistance was' procured, and eventnally the door was unlocked by the boy. It was then found that the bar and all the upstairs rooms, inoluding the girls' bedroom, had been ranEaoked. A quantity of jewellery and £2 2s in oath, as well as several artioles of olothing belonging to Mißses Howden and Elley, were taken from the girls' bedroom, the box containing the olothing having been carried downstairs and there broken open. From the bar the thief took two flasks of brandy and 12s in silver. The total valne of property stolen from the hotel amounts to 412. Although the offender went through all the rooms, and took most of the property from the girls' room, he was seen by no one, the girls sleeping soundly all the night. The thief had entered by the scullery, the window of whioh had been forced open. The polioe have the matter in hand. AT THE CITI HOTEL. This morning at 2 a.m. the City Hotel, at the foot of Marjoribanks-street, was entered by some person. The servants were awakened by the presenoe of someone in their rcom, and at once gave the alarm. The intruder thereupon decamped without -being able to take anything with him. He had evidently previously tried to enter the room of the landlord. THIPT TBOlf MB FBAKUVS SHOP. Yesterday evening a young man entered the shop of Mr. W. Frankel, second-hand dealer, Willis-street, and said he wished to buy an artiole in the window priced at 6d. He held out a half-orown in payment, and waited for change. Mr. Frankel took ont his purse, when the man snatohed it and disappeared. He was pursued by two constables, and Messrs. Merritt and Gallagher, and ohased aoroßß the reclaimed land. Be ultimately escaped. There was 25s in .the purse. CHURCH POQB-BOXH BBOKXN OFIN. The poor-boxes in St. Mary of the Angels' Church, Bonloott-street, were broken open hut evening. The Very Rev. Father Devoy had fortunately oleared them just before, bo that nothing was stolen. An attempt was also mode to break open the offertory boxes.
