A matoh between the N'tu Ahuriri Clnb (winner of the Junior Flag competition nnder tbe anspioas of the North Canterbury Union this Beason) and a fifteen selected from the combined Wednesday olnbs of Wellington took plaoe at Newtown Pork yesterday afternoon. The play of the natives was disappointing. Their backs at times did some pretty passing and' handled the ball very oleverly (this being- a strong point in their play), bat in soram work they moke no display of the fine points of the game. The first spell was in favour of the local men, Who adapted themselves to the slippery ground and the greasy ball better than their opponents. Several times the Wednesday representatives were on the point of sooring, but the reoklessnees of Turner, who picked the ball ont of the sornm on several occasions and then endeavonred to foroe his way through the forwards instead of passing ont to the other baok, prevented this from being done. The seoond half was slightly in favour of the native team, bnt no sooring was done, and the matoh ended in a draw. The Wednesday forwards played well: Turner, Smith, and Barton were the beat of the books. The native forwards played without combination} T7ru was the most prominent of their backs. Mr. W. M'Kenzie aoted as referee.
