THE SEAHAM COLLIERY FIRE.
[PttESS ASSOCIATION.) Sidnct, 26th August. The fire in the Seaham colliery, Newcastle, is still burning. ' By the fire 256 men have been thrown out of work. The position of the fire oauses a suspicion that the outbreak was the work of an incendiary. (Received August 27, 11 20 a.m.) Sidney, This Dat. In the opinion of experts it will be weeks before it is safe to re-open the Seaham colliery. It is feared that the Sealing up of the shafts will cause the generation and .explosion of foul gases, with consequent serious damage.
