MINISTERS, MEMBERS, AND THE UNEMPLOYED FUND.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib— "Bait the hook well, the fish will bite." Keadors of your morning contemporary will understand the application of the above saying. Like many others, I was ouiion* to know the extent of the charity of tbo Friends of the People Government, and thought the best way to find ont was to draw the Ministerial organ. The bait has been unexpectedly successful. We now kuow that the Liberal Ministry and members have subscribed J2lB U towards relief works, bat nono of that is for the Wellington Kelief Fund. Yonr contemporary is, as nsnal, barking up the wrong tree. lamin no way oonneoted with the Post or its Btaff, and the fine frenzy into whioh the Times' t ditor has worked himself on that supposition is therefore entirely thrown away. At the same time, if he can dig up any more benevolenoes ou the part of Ministers, I shall bs extremely glad to hear of them. The list in this morning's Times is a woefnlly attenuated one for people who protest so much. I am, *c, > __ <i^ ii _^^^^^Obs«bveb.
