THE RELIEF WORKS.
The number of orders issued for employment on the works np to date is 201. The men aro making progress with the formation of the reoreation ground. A number of man who are not eligible for employment, through having resided iv Wellington for less than three months, have gone to Te Horo, where a large drainage contraot is being carried out. The following further subscriptions to the fund are acknowledged : — .Employe's Te Aro House, £i ; Brown & Dean, £2 2s ; Jno. Holmes &Co , £1. Total, £746 7s Id. The programme of the concert arranged by Miss Medley and Mr. A. F. Hill, in aid of the Unemployed Relief Fund, appears in another column. Its merits, apart from the deserts of tho fund to be benefited, should ensure a large attendance. Mr. 0. Judd, of the Manners-street fern repository, has undertaken to deoorate the room gratis. The arrangements in oonneotion with the Belief Fund ooncert which is to take plaoe at the Opera House on Thursday next, aro now oomplete, and in another column appear the names of those ladies and gentlemen who are taking part. His Worship the Mayor will propose a vote of thanks to the per. former* daring the interval. Mr. Thomas Gale (who has been most assiduous in promoting the concert) to-day consented to aot as Hon. Treasurer. The boz office U now open at Holliday's. It is notified that the proceeds of the oolleotion at the Forward Movement service tomorrow evening are to be devoted to the Belief Fund,
