VICTORIA'S PRODUCE EXPORT SERVICE.
(PRBSS ASSOCIATION- 1 (Received August 3, noon.) Melbourne, This Day. Government has been advised by the Agent-General that no tenders have been received in London for the new frozen meat and produce export contraots, nor have any been received in Melbourne. The reason given is that a weekly service ib required in the summer months, and the P. and O. and Orient Companies, the only ones which oan furnish this, consider the conditions of the contract unsatisfactory. They have written to the Premier stating the terms they are willing to agree to, and he is considering the matter. Lund's Aberdeen lines oan only furnish a fortnightly service. In the Legislative Assembly the Labonr members raised the question of tho new produce export contraots, and urged the Government not to entertain any tender from the P. and O. Company while it continues to employ cheap blaok labour. The farmers' representatives also opposed having produce oarriod by vessels manned by blaoks to the exolusion of whites. The Premier promised to give the matter oarefnl consideration before tenders were accopted.
