As he appeared at the National Liberal Club, the Premier looked pale and worn, and was leaning on a stick. He olaimed that the recent viotories in tho by-elections had fortified the position of the Government. He admitted that tho Newcastle Programme was unfinished, bnt Ministers were prepared to carry it out to the end if the Liberals in Parliament and the country gave them their support.
