! UNITED FREBB ASSOCIATION. J Westport, 18th Septembor. At a mooting of the Harbour Board this aftornoon, Mr. Cox, second officer of the s.s. Janet, Nicoll, was appointed Assistant-Har-bourmaster. There wero 22 applicants. A letter was received from the Mokihinui Coal Company, offering to sell tho Board the privates line at £25,000. Tho Board unanimously resolved to urge tho Government to purohaso tho lino out of tbe Board's funds, or that tho Government rnako provision for tho purchaso, and be asked to negotiate for tho purchaso ou the bost possiblo terms, iv pursuanco of the recommendation of the Railways Committee of tho Houso. Mr. R. H. Reeves, a member of the Board, jjoes to Wollington to urge this settlement on the Government.
