The play was very open during the first portion of this half, i the brothers Bennett doing good work on behalf of the visitors, who were unable to ' cope with the splendid forward rusboß of the local men. The Wellington backs made ; a perfeot hash of their passing, Hood and Driscoll being the prinoipal blunderers. J. Smith, the Wellington full baok, was repeatedly called on to clear his lino, 1 and waß always equal to the occasion.
