THE VOLUNTEERS.

On Saturday afternoon the City Rifles opened their shooting season. The ranges were 300 and 500 yards, and seven Bhots were allowed at each. The prizes consisted of cash and ammunition. The scores of the prize-winners were as follows :—: — A Class.—Prizes: 2 of £1,3 of 10s, and 500 rounds Martini ammunition in 6 prizes.

The committee desires to thank the following donors to the prize fund:—Sir Robert Stout, M.H.R., Messrs. H. D. Bell, M.H.R., J. Thompson, Wiltons and Field, Kinsey and Co., D.1.C., Brown, Thomson and Co., Berry and Co., Cameron and Christie, Whittaker Bros., Coogan and Sons, Tisdall and Co., Aldousand Co., Mesars. C. Hugo, Wise, P. J. Thompson, officers of the corps, and other contributors. The City Bifles have be9n invited to send a rifle team to the Upper Hutt next Saturday, to fire a rifle match with the Upper Hutt Martini Rifle Club. Arrangements will be made this evening after Government parade. A march-out will take place this evening, providing the weather is fine.
