The Walter Bentley Season.

"Friends," an adaptation of Sardon's " Nob Intimes," was staged at the Oyora House last night with a completeness which reflected credit upon the' management and performers. It is a most amusing piece of improbable fooling, and as suoh was evidently thoroughly.. appreciated by the very large andience. "triends" treats of a married couple (Mr. and Mrs. Denson), whose aountry house is invaded by a host of so-called " friends " who are nothing more than human sponges. The situations and complications that arise out of the commingling of the ill-assorted and mostly uncongenial visitors aro memt amusing. The chief interest centres upon Mrs. Denson (Miss Gresbam) - a young and pretty, bnt flighty, matron, who is wife of Mr. Denson (Mr. lleg Kede), a country gentleman - and a young Frenchman, between whom something bpyond a platonio friendship springs up. The Densons' good genius, however, in the person of an eccentric medical man, Dr. Simpson (Mr. Walter Bentley) steps in between the pair, and the honour of tbe imbecile and hoodwinked husband is saved The action of the piece is rapid and well maintained. All the characters were well sustained, bnt the pride of plaoe mast be awarded to Mr. Bentley's admirable portrayal of Dr. Simpson. The comedy will be repeated to-night, when the season will close.
