THE MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.
Very little interest appeared to be displayed in the eloctions to fill the vacant seats in the City Counoil, whioh took place to-day, excepting in tho contests for the Thorndon and Te AlO Wards. The results should be known about 7 o'clook, and will be announoed from the various polling booths. At Thorndon booth (Primitive Methodist Schoolroom). Mr. H. M. Lyon ia Returning Oflicer, and Mr. O. R. Bendall poll olerk ; at Lambton (Corporation offices), Mr. Joseph Ames is Returning Officer and Mr. R. Hill poll olerk ; at Te Aro (Rechabite Hall, Man-ners-street), Mr. James Ames is Returning Officer and Messrs. L. Cohen and F. G. Thompson poll clerks ; at Cook (Foresters' Hall, Tory-Btreet), Mr. J. Chappie i 3 Returning Officer and Messrs. H. B. Bridge and E. Blaauw poll clerks. Messrs. W. M'Gill and W. Higginbottom, candidates for Te Aro and Cook Wards respectively, addrossed meetings of ratepayers last night. Up to 3 o'clock to-day about 2000 votes had been recorded at tho various booths, as follows :— Thorndon, 450 ; Lambton, 700 ; Te Aro, 500 ; Cook, 350.
