ST. GEOEGE'S DAY.
TO THS EDITOR. SiR-Irejoioe to see, in Saturday's cable news that tho Lord Mayor of London expresses a hope that St. George's Day will be celebrated throughout tho British Empire. Surely thia must find a warm response in overy royal heart, and more especially as 23rd April is also tho .birthday of Willie Shakespeare, the greatest Englishman that ever lived. I have often wondered why two only of the orosses (St. Andrew's and St. Patrick's) that compose "the brave old flag " should bo honoured out here, whilst the other and most important one, it. George's, is left out in the oold. Tn Canada, St. George's Day is recognised as a general holiday, and all who can proudly boast English birth or descent march in procession with roses in thejf buttonholes. I trust the Premier and the Mayor of Wellington will move in the matter. I am, &0., John Bull.
