THE PREMIER'S WANDERINGS.

A PERILOUS VOYAGE ON WAIKAREMOANA. Mr. Seddon, who was expected to get through tho bush from Ruatahuna to tho Wairoa on Friday, only reached Frasertown (Wairoa) to-day. Considerable anxiety was being felt regarding him, as tho oonntry ho was traversing waa known to be tome of the roughest in Now Zealand. Tho following telegram, received from him this afternoon, will givo some idea of what he lias come through : — " Just arrived safely at Frasertown. Self and Carroll well. Wo have bad a very advonturous journey, and I am not sorry to got back to civilization. The country passed through is tho rougbestl 1 avo ever mot with, and absolutely dangerous to travel through. Yostorday we had nearly come to the ond of our food oxcopt for the pigeons wo shot in tho bu»h, and tho day boforo wo travolled on foot 24 miles through tho bush. On arriving at Waikaro-Moana, wo found tho canoes gone. Yestorday the Maoris carao for us, and wo facod the lake, although thoro was quito a gale blowing. It was touch and go, and about tho nearest approach to dissolution that I have ever met with. There were 13 all told in the canoo, and seas kept breaking into it, and it was a case of balo or sink. Well, we landed after a hard struggle all dronohed t« tho skin, and everything we hod with us was also wot through. Wo stayed at a Maori pah all night, and left for this place at 7 this morning, not sorry to got back to civilisation. I assure you. All well, we reach Wairoa to-night, and then I will make my way to Wellington as quick as I can." '
