Auckland, 6th April. After a throe days' trial, tho brothers Shein,_ Russian or Polish Jews, were brought in Gnilty of conspiracy to defraud sundry Auckland merchants, and sentenced to six months' imprisonment each. This is what ia known as the "long firm" case. The merchants were M'Arthnr 4 Co., Trenwith, boot manufacturer, and Oram & Co., warehousemen. When sentenced, two of the brothers broke down and wept. The third said, " Thank you, your Honour," apparently satisfied -with the lightness of the sentence.
