[united fress association. 1 Auckland, 28th January.. The birthday of the German Emperor was celebrated with great eclat to-day on the German warship Bussard. The French flagship Duguay Trouiu was also gay with bunting. Dunedin, 28th January. Mr. Thomas Wright, manager of the Hawkesbury Agricultural College, was deputed by the New South Wales Government, on his recent visit, to purchase two Ayrshire oowb of the best milking strains, with the view of making dairying a special feature of the college work. Mr. Murray has purchased from Messrs. A. and J. M' Far-lane, of Ayrshire Park, the cows Beauty 11. and Lill 11 , which were taken by Mr. Murray by tho Wairarapa. Christchubch, 27th January. Upon the arrival of the barque Grasmere from Sydney to-day, two young men named William Cneverill and Michael Russell, stowaways, were arrested upon a charge of assaulting a Sydney constable. It is alleged that the constable was endeavonring to quiet a larrikin row, whon he was set upon by the aoonßed and seriously injured. Warrants were issued for their arrest, but they escaped for the time being by stowing away on the Grasmere. Pahiattia, This Dat. Harry Knight, who was seriously injured by a horso falling on him at the sports on Anniversary Day, is now pronouaced oat of danger.
