INSPECTOR PENDER RECEIVES .£SOO. I By Telegraph. | | UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION. I Christchurch. 6th January. Inspector Ponder was this afternoon presented with an address and a purse of .£SOO at the City Council chambers in the presenoo of a largo and representative feathering. The Mayor of Christchui'ch presided, and the presentation was mado by Sir John Hall, who was Resident Magistrate and Commissioner of Police when Inspector Pender was hero in !S(i2. Speeches expressing appreciation of Mr. Pcnder'a services and regret at his departure for Wellington were mado by the Hon. C. C. Bovvon (who was Resident Magistrate hero for many years), the Hon. J. T. Peacock and Mr. John Ollivier. Auckland, 6th January. At a mooting to-day, convened by tho Mayor of Auckland, it was resolved to prosout Inepee'or Broham with a purse of sovereigns boforo his departure for Christchurch. Dunedin, 6th January. The members of Inspector Hickson's family wero each presented with an article of jewellery by tho members of tho police in Southland and tho goldfields counties. Tomorrow ho will bo publicly presented with a purse of sovereigns. This Day. Inspector Ilickson has been presented by the citizens with 100 soys.
