There are fow yachtsmen who have visitod Auckland who have not seen the yawl rigged 8-tonner Ngaire, which Dr. JHaines had built for himself by Bailiio, tho well-known Auckland builder. She is tho most expensively built and luxuriously fitted boat of her size in the oolony, not a scjrap of iron being used in her construction — all copper, brass, and gun-motal, and everything of the very best procurable in England. She has a handsome and roomy saloon, with inlaid and polished panols of Now Zealand woods, and artistically decorated, a sleeping-room, a pantry, and every convenience it was possible to put into tho space, all luxuriously fitted, and is altogether a sumptuous pleasure boat, while stability is insured by a lead keel of 7{ tons, and U tons of the saino metal inside. The 'tween dcck3 are high enough to allow a tall man to movo about upright. Dr. Haines has now decided to give up yachting, and is desirous of disposing of tho Ngaire for half what she cost him. She would bo a notable addition to our pleasure fleet. Somo photographs and particulars of the yacht are on exhibition at Tiatkin's. Tho semi-final heat of tho Star Boating Club Junior Pairs was rowed yesterday afternoon, when Itoso and Knight defeatod Harloy and Lewis easily. Mason and Trimnell, who had a byo yesterday, will row tho final with Eose and Knight this evening, water permitting.
