Pahiatua, This Dat. A man named John Thompson, a carpenter, dropped down dead this morning, at 11 o'clock, in Sullivan and Corby's yard. Ho was doing a small contract for the proprietor of the Commercial Hotel. His death is supposed to be due to syncope. An inquest will be held.

At the Sunday sohool picnic at Potter's Paddook to-day a boy, ten years old, nainod Bruce, son of the shipping reporter on the New Zealand Herald, was killed by a tank falling on him. Blenheim:, This Day. Two youths, named Humphrey Gifford and Frank Litohfield, were out ehooting at Spring Creek yesterday, and in passing through the manuka scrub the latter's Snider rifle accidentally exploded, the bullet passing through Gilford's arm, and grazing his ribs. Gifford was removed to the Wairau Hospital, and attended by Dr. Cleghorn. He ia progressing favourably. Dunedin, Thts Day. James Mallison, aged 11, son of Benjamin Malli&on, of Oamaru, when stepping off the tram going to Mornington last evening, was knocked down by a car which at that moment was coming down High-street towards town. The front wheels passod over his body, and death must liavo been instantaneous, his internal organs being crushed, while the breastbone and spinal column were broken. Deceased was spending his holiday in Dunedin. At the inquest on tho young man David O'Connor, supposed to have died from influenza, the medical evidence showed thai; death was duo to heart disease accelerated by Bright's disease. Charles M'Lcan, a miner, from Waipori, died very suddenly yesterday, apparently from internal inflammation. Chbibtchubch. Thts Day. Percy Abbott was drowned in a tub at the back of his parents' residence. The tub contained only 5£ inches water.
