The National Association.
I Bt Telegraph. ! lUKIT2D PRESS ABROCIATION. I Auckland. 22nd August. At a meeting of the Council of the National Association the report of the Political Committee with regard to the various Bills before the Legislature was adopted, and it was decided to forward ifc to the Premier and Leader of the Opposition. It waa to the effect that the Workmen's Lien Bill will hamper the course of businesi, and tend to litigation, and is a species of class legislation. The Inspection of Building Appliances Bill they consider objectionable, and one of a growing class of enactments which will burden the taxpayer by the creation of new offices, and take away from the independence and degrade the position of the workmen. While in sympathy with the Eight Hours System, they regard the Eight Hours Bill as being opposed to the spirit of freedom, and likely to lead to elate legislation. The Friendly Societies Act Amendment Bill they regard as an infamous measure, designed to place employers and employes in antagonism.
