Cool chambers have been construoted at Port; Said, on the Suez Canal, for an Australian firm, who have arranged to land fruit and meat there every month from the Australian Bteamers. The experiment will begin in April. Latest. A BLOW TO THE VICTOEIAN FEUIT INDUSTEY. f SPECIAL. | (Beceived March 14, 11.25 a.m.) London, 13th March. It has been shown that two-thirds of the apples grown in Victoria are unauited for the London market. Experts urge that new sorts should be planted. It is_ also stated that inferior tinning is prejudioially affecting Australian preserved fruit.
