PROMPT ACTION OF THE POLICE. [By Telegraph.] [united presß asbociation.j Auckland, 15th June. Inspector 'Emerpon has returned to Hamilton from Okoroire with the natives accused of obstructing ploughing on the Thames Valley Land Company's estate. Ho arrived on tho disputed ground on Saturday, and met a number of Maoris, who, seeing the strong force of police, did npt resist, but allowed tho police to arrest Mihinui and his wife. The natives wore much astonished at the prompt measures taken for their arrest, thinking they would not be interfered with. Inspector.'Emerson made short work of the affair, leaving Hamilton at 3 p.m. on Friday and returning on Saturday evening with his prisoners, having travelled continuously from 4 o'clock on Satnrday morning until 7.30 p.m. No further obstruction to the work ib expected. Mihinui and hiß wife were brohght up at Hamilton Court to-day, and acknowledged destroying tho bridges, but 'claimed the land. Tho case was remanded to Friday for the Resident Magistrate to hear.
