MOUNT COOK BOYS.
Mr. J. Wilson, supported by Messrs. Baoon, Allan, Norbury, and Worth, members of tho Sohool Committee, presided at the closing of the above Bohool for the holidays to-day. The very interesting and exhaustive report furnished by Mr. C. J Hardy, B.A. (headmaster^, showed that there are 515 names on the Hohool roll, about 40 less than last Christmas. This slight falling off was due to many of the older boys having left after tho examinations, and also to tho increased aooommodation provided by the opening of Clyde - quay aeohool. Mr. Hardy's report wont on to say : — "Of tho results of tho examination itself, and the general tone and status of the sohool, you will havo boon informed by the Board's inspectors. I can only odd that any good resulta aro dne to my staff of teaohore, who have one and all worked admirably in tho interoats of the oharges oommitted to them " The Chairman, in a abort address to tho boj s, mentioned that the oommiltee had refrained from giving pri«f b at this vacation in tho hope that by conserving their funds they wonld be onablad to form what wonld bo tho nucleus of a good school library. Mr. Allan stated that the passes this year, aooording to the Inspector's report, amounted to 95 per oent. Mr. Allan paid a high compliment to the teaohing staff, and conducted by promising to give a prize for swimming, to be competed for by the boys of the Mount Cook Sohool in February next.
