A outter has arrived at Stewart Island from the goldfield at Preservation Inlet, and reports that a watchmaker named Clark, from Dunedin, was drowned while attempting to land at Coal Island. The boat capsized, bnt four other occupants were rescued. Geetmouth, This Dat. Mr. James Barkley, of the well known olothing and drapery firm of Smith and Barkley was fonnd dead in bed at 1 o'clock this morning. He had not been ailing in any way.
