The Juvenile Industrial Exhibition.

• Although the weather was far from boing pleasant, the Juvenile Industrial Exhibition j opened in the Drillshed by_ tho Sunday | School Union was well patronised yesterday afternoon and evening. Betweon 7,30 and 10 o'clock tho Protostant Band was in attondance, and performed at intervals in an appreciative manner. We aro requested to mention tbat Messrs. W. G-. Boldsworth and Davidson are in ohargo of the ticket arrangements, and that Mr. W. Allan is attending to tho decorations, Mr. J. Watson to tho fittings, Mr. Sims to the flower stall, and Mr. "VV. Allen to the hoot stall. A book containing recipes, compiled from loßSons on oookcry given in Dnnedin recently, is on salo, and a largo number of oopiea hare already been disposed of. The following prizes have been awarded in addition to tbose mentioned by us yesterday :— Architectural Drawing 1 —1, Ernest Balchin, subject, the Dunodin Exhibition; hon. mention, William Muir, Star Boatshed. Extra prizes. — Leighton Short, fitst for exhibit of a rabbit ; Robert Wilson, map of tho world ; Frank Hatchard, whip thong ; Lottio Coatall, netted mnsio stool top. Essays on the "Life of David." — Under 12 years— l, Win. Quee; 2, Fred Douglas. Over 12 and under 15 years— l. Ethel Ghappell ; \ 2, Maude Beavis. Over 15 years — 1, Wm, Reid; 2, D. D. Carmiohael ; hon. mention, Ellon M'Neill. The ohief attraction this evening will be a musioal festival, in which 600 children, trained by Mr. Lankshear, will take part. The boys are to engage in a whistling chorus, in itself a novelty, and a humming chorus by tbo whole choir should also provo interesting. The entertainment will oommence at 8 sharp, but the public are requested to come early. To-morrow night a grand promenade concert is to take place, when several well-known amateurs will assist.
