The Silbons.

The Silbon Company commenced a short Boason of cix nights at the Opera House last ovening, and met with a reception which the oxcollence of their performance woll deserved. The company coma to the oolony with a first-olasß reputation, and the character of their cntertainmont aptly fits the term applied to it—" a congress of wonders." As an exhibition of feats of muscular strength and dexterity, it is probably tho boßt the colony has Been, and one scarcely knows whether to most admire tho daring exeroiees on the trapezo and Boman rings of the Silbons, the surprising foat3 on tho triple horizontal bars by Messrs. Moultou and Dasbaway, the agility of tho Oirards, the cleverness of tho Dales, or the accomplishments of the Hacker troupe. Summed up briefly, it may be said that the performers are each and all adepts in their particular lines. The feat of the evening is the aerial performance of the Silbon Brothers. In this aot Mr. Walter Silbon ascended to a point above the dress oirole, and, swinging the whole length of the auditorium, left the flying bar when <jußt above the Btage, and, taming two complete somersaults in tho air, caught the hands of his brother, who was hanging head downwarcla from a. kxg^H trapeze erected, aboxo the stago. The sensational leap quite brought down the liouso. In the same aot the Misses Ida and JCato Silbon went through a Beries of difficult and exceedingly clever trapeße foata. The triple bar performance of Meisrs. Monlton and , Dashaway, who are not strangers to Wellington, was warmly applauded, tho audience* fully recognising tho wondorful physical development and dexterity of the athletes. The Dale Brothers introduced some except ionally clever acrobatic feats into the first part of the entertainment, for which they were honoured with a recall, and in the second part displayed a number of capital juggling foats. The boneleßS Girards were very favourably received in their " Mikado" aot, which is something quite new ; and in the Haoker Troupe, the company have a clever ' quartet of trick bioyclists. Two of the"^number are ladies, who are perfect wonders at feats of balancing. Professor Eollinson, the well-known trick cyclist, is also with tho company, and > last night gave an amusing sketch of a beginner at bicycle riding. There is another member of the company who must not bo overlooked, and that is Mr. W. B. Warner, who, as a oomic singer, is one of the best who has visited us for some timo. Hia Bongs are refreshingly new, and well sung. Ths entertainment as a whole is one we can earnestly recommend to thoso who wish to see something unique. There are no unpleasant delays botween the aots, but everything is done briskly, and at the same time with porfeot graoe and elegance. The company introduce fresh novoltios to-night, and to-morrow afternoon give a matinee performance.
