SAMOAN AFFAIRS.
A GEEMAN SUGGESTION. the conference. [united press association.] Berlin, 11th May. The Algemcine Zoitung, in an artiolo on Samoan affairs, suggests tfiat America should abandon Pago Pago Harbonr afld (JtJntert Suwarrow Island (on whioh the Britieh flag was recently hoisted) into a coaling station. The paper declares that the Samoan Conference is arranging for the appointment of an adviser to the King of Samoa to represent each Power, and the term of the office of eaoh is to bo for one year. Berlin, 12th May. At the sitting of the Samoan Conference yesterday, the report of the oommitteo appointed to inquire into tho land question was approved. Mr. Kassan, the American Minister at Berlin, and one of the delegates at the Conference, in a Bpeeoh on tho fight which took place between the German sailors and tho Samoans under Mataafa, exonerated the latter from any blame in the matter ; and he refused to agroe to the demand of Gormany for redress from Mataafa.
