THE DECEASED WIFE'S SISTER BILL. A GIGANTIC STRIKE. | SPECIAL. | London, 10th May. The a.s. City of Paris has beaten the record for the Atlantic passage, doingr the distance from Quoenßtown to Sandy Hook in one hour nnder six days, a performance quite unequalled. The Deceased "Wife's Sister Bill was rejected by the House of Lords by a majority of 27. The Prince of Wales voted for the Bill. In the House of Commons, Baron de Worms, replying to a questioa, said the colonies had not expressed any opinions on the subject of the amended Sugar Convention of last year. It had been referred to Sir T. H. Farrer. Pabis, 9th May. Madame Melba received an immense ovation on her first appearanne in Paris, and scored a prononnced success. Berlin, 10th May. There are now 70,000 miners in Westphalia on strike. The English and Belgian oolliera are assisting thorn.
