Wm. Clark's Bankruptcy.
« The adjonrned mooting 1 of creditors in the estate of William Clark, draper, of Lamb-ton-quay, was held this aftornoon, the Official Assignee presiding. Mr. Travera was present as legal adviser to the Assignee, Mr. Jellicoojfor D. Clarkson * Sons, that firm being one of the largest claimants (tbo amount of their proof of debt being .£9978 19s sd, irrespective of tho secured debt), and Mr. Gully for the remainder of the creditors. Tho debtor was not represented by oounsel. - The Asaignoe stated in the outset that he had recoived a tender for the purchase of tho stock, which was of such a nature that he thought the creditors would empower him to accept it. Until the stook shoots were to hand, however, he did not feel inclined to disclose it. _ Tho bankrupt's furniture had been estimated by Mr. T. K. Macdonald to realise .£l5O net. Mr. Jollicoo moved, on behalf of Messrs. Clarkson and Son, that the debtor be allowed to retain bis furniture. This was Beoonded by Mr. Whittem. Mr. D. J. Nathan said he had no desire to harass the debtor, but his own opinion, and the feeling of the other creditors he had spoken to, was that the question should remain open until the books weregonethroughanditwasdefinitely known how the estato would realise. Ho moved as an amendment that the matter stand over until the Official Assignee could make a report. The amendment was not seconded, and the original motion was carried on the voices. Later on the Assignee stated that the tender for the t purchase of the stock was one of 138 9d in the .£, payable in cash within seven i days. There was, however, a stipulation for the rent of the premises by the purchaser for one, two, or three months, at the rental hitherto paid by the debtor. The creditors resolved to acoept the tender, which was found to be that of Messrs, Kirkcaldie and Stains. Goneral matters having been discussed the meeting adjourned.
