'■ Sidnbt, 23rd November. Arrived— Waihotfa, from Wellington. CuRiSTcHUROri, 23rd November. The first series of wool sales opened this afternoon, when 1125 bales were offered. The Loan and Mercantile Agenoy Company, the National Mortgage and Agenoy Company, and the Farmers' Co-oporative Assooiation sold. Half-bred wool fetched B}d to 9|d per lb; merino, best, B\d to o|d ; locks and pieces, 4^d to 6Jd. The highest prioe was 9}d, realised for first-olass wool grown j at Ch&tsdy. Competition was spirited, and prices wero a pointy per lb better than last year's opening sales. Dunedin, 23rd November. At the grain sale to-day there was a further advance in prices, and especially in oats, one prime lot of milling realising 4e Id per bushel, ex store, prices ranging between that and 3s6d i prime Tuscan wheat realised 4s 9d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agenoy Company (Limited) have reoeived the following telegram from their London offioe, dated 23rd inst. : — Tallow— Good mutton is worth J334 5s per ton, and beef £32 155. Frozen mutton— Market easier.
