WHAT WILL THEY SAY IN ENGLAND?
TO THE EDITOR. Sib, — In your Friday evening's report of Parliamentary proceedings I noticed the following:—"Supplementary Estimates.— On ! the motion of Mr. Monk, the item of iilf'oo set down as contribution in aid of the Imperial Institute, was struck out on the voices." Surely, after that, nothing is now required to expose the utter nakedness of i the land. I beljevo lam right in saying all the other Colonial Governments have made handsome votes, Canada leading the van with .£20,000. But he'e is a country, year after year borrowing millions to throw away on unprofitable railways and useless harbour j works, contont to bo conspicuous by its absence from the list of contributions' to an undertaking oF Imperial importance, and the outcome of her Majesty's express desire. Depend upon it a note of this will be made at Home. The great South Sea Bubble — New Zealand— is evidently about to burst. I am, &c, Cosmos.
