PERCH FISHING.
TO THK EDITOR. Sir— l notico in to-day's supplement a letter re perch fishing in the Karori reservoir, and I must say I think the protest offered a very sensible one, concerning the prohibition of worm fishing-. It is well known to readern of fishing literature that artificial baits are almost usoless in fishing for perch. Worms are the bost bait, and to prohibit their use, means simply prohibiting perch fishing. It is needless to point out that worms are fonnd in quantity in all waters similar to the reservoir, and any objection to tbe use of such bait, on the score of polluting tho water, roqniros no argument. Whon I paid my 2s 6d for permission to fish, it was certainly with the understanding that worms were allowed. Had I imagined the contrary, I should not have paid it. But I hope this order, or by-law, is only a temporary one, and that not only will worms bo allowed, but that perch of any length may be taken. From the time or two I have been to the resorvoir, I think it requires a goodly number of the small perch lomovod. The place is simply swarming with thorn." I am, 4c, I.T. Wellington, 17th December.
