Mr. Bevan, tho leader of tho expedition formed in Sydney for exploring Now Guinea, haß returnod from that country to Thursday Island. Ho reports tho result of thoir labours as a brilliant geographical success. The expedition explored tho river systems running into the Gnlf of Papna ovor an area of 10,000 miles of new territory, but were compelled to return owing to half the men of the party being down with fevor. Personally Mr. Bevan is desirous of recommencing tho oxploration if the neocßsary funds are provided, the last .expedition having confirmed his former discoveries.
