The examination of candidates for comVf -missions in the volunteer force will not tako placo till Monday, 18th instant. The candidates who intend presenting themselves aro Lieuts. Thompson and Clarke, City Rifles ; Lieut. Mackintosh, Guards ; Lieut. Jackson, Wellington Riflos, and Lieut. Vogel, Te Aro Rifles. There will be a meeting of tho Garrison Band Amusement Committoe on Monday evening. Tho attention of members of the Kaiwarra Rifles is directed to District Orders in this issue, and also to tho meeting to be hold aftor r-arodo on Monday noxt.

We hear Mr. Wood has sold his interest in tho Criokotors' Arms Hotol to Mr. Dealy, who takes possession to-day. Tho sale wa3 negotiated by Mr. H. Moss. Miss Georgia Smithson, known as the Female Maooabe, announces that she is abont to commence a series of entertainments in the country districts, commenoing at Johnsonville on Tuesday next.
